Site Lead

Danielle

I don’t always sit back and really reflect on everything I’ve done with the company. But I love what I do. I love working with my team. I love working with our customers and just knowing we’re making a difference.

Supporting the systems that serve missions. My team owns it.

My team does tier 2 hardware support. Anything from installing new workstations, to project management, and day-to-day support for our customer who has important, mission-related work to do.

We recently did a large install of over 900 workstations in a short period of time. It was a really big project. We installed the equipment, ran the fiber, and set up phones from top to bottom. There were also requirement changes we had to accommodate on the fly. The team did a great job pulling together and collaborating with our military personnel on site and engineers on another contract. We completed the project by the due date and our customer was really happy with what we accomplished.

Getting out of her comfort zone.

I’ve been in IT for almost 20 years. GDIT is the first company that’s given me the opportunity to grow. My supervisors have always encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone. I was nervous when I moved into the Site Lead role, even though I had the experience. My supervisor gave me the support and tools I needed to be successful.

Giving opportunities to others.

I want to be the same type of manager for my team, encouraging them and helping to expand their skill sets. When I started my new role, there was a lead on the team who had been at that site for some time. I knew the customer, but I needed to learn the day-to-day at this site. He jumped right in and helped me.

As we continued working together, he told me his goal was to move into other management roles. And so I helped him get there. I brought him to different meetings and started giving him projects. He’s now my Deputy Site Lead and he’s been great.

You have the leadership here to help you grow. You have the support to make sure you can do your job in the best way possible. From training to working with other contracts to get exposure to new things, GDIT is full of opportunities.
