Job Description

There is no challenge we can't turn into opportunity. Our work depends on a Systems Engineer joining our team to support our Department of Defense (DoD) customer in Springfield, VA.

The Systems Engineer will be a hybrid position consisting of remote and onsite work at Springfield, VA. The Systems Engineer shall perform detailed system engineering and will be directly involved in various system design and requirements generation/maintenance of legacy and emerging DoD software and hardware baselines. You will be responsible for working with a highly functional team developing, integrating, testing, and deploying custom solutions to the client's hardware baselines and maintaining legacy and new versions of the system and its sub-systems. Other responsibilities will include working with the team, including integrators, to define system requirements and effort estimates related to satisfying said requirements.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and performs engineering research, design development, and other assignments in conformance with design, engineering, and customer specifications
  • Responsible for major technical/engineering projects of high complexity and importance
  • Coordinates the activities of engineers assigned to specific engineering projects; and may perform other duties as assigned
  • Assess and manage systems level requirements, develop operational systems concepts, originating design concepts or performing systems level integration and test for highly complex systems
  • Review architecture designs and plans and provide actionable feedback to stakeholders and team personnel
  • Interacts with system users to translate their requirements into systems, hardware, and software requirements and design
  • Contribute to the Planning and Requirements phases of the development life cycle
  • Ensure designs are in compliance with specifications
  • Solves engineering problems in the functional area to which assigned
  • Recommend changes to improve established application processes
  • Provide technical support and consultation for systems engineering questions
  • Produce white papers and briefings as required

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other business-related field plus 5+ years of experience in a related discipline
  • Strong understanding of systems architectures, system design, employment of systems and dependent sub-systems, systems administration, and system networking
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL data stores
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively solve technical problems
  • Background in requirements analysis, design, and coding methodologies, DoD software policies; and DoD test and evaluation requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a small team
  • Thoroughly understands systems engineering for client-server based architectures supporting broad base of applications
  • Must have or be able to obtain TS/SCI Clearance
  • US Citizenship Required
  • Must Possess a US Passport​

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with geospatial software products utilizing ESRI's suite of mapping products (ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, Portal for ArcGIS, ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, etc.)
  • Experience with virtualized environments and virtualization software such a VMWare

Salary and Benefit Information

The likely salary range for this position is $97,257 - $131,583. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
