As a background investigator for Office of Personnel Management (OPM)/National Background Investigations Bureau (NBIB), you will engage in a wide range of activities that will leverage your unique skills. Investigators conduct comprehensive interviews with subjects, employers, associates, references, and other knowledgeable individuals. They also review appropriate records to obtain facts, resolve all material concerns in a case, and establish the background, reputation, character, suitability, or qualifications of the subject under investigation.
Must be able to obtain/maintain a favorable SSBI.
As with most positions for the government, a mandatory pre-employment drug test will be conducted. Upon passing that, and receiving OPM approval, there is a pre-selection process and a six (6) week OPM New Investigator Training course. Growth opportunities for leadership and mentorship positions are available.
