“The future is already here. It’s just not evenly distributed yet.”
– William Gibson, Science Fiction Writer
That sentiment succinctly captures the optimism, innovation, and energy on display at the recent AWS Public Sector Summit, held in Washington, D.C. CSRA Data and Analytics Director Dave Vennergrund aptly chose these very words to frame his presentation at the event.
Vennergrund showed how public sector organizations, including the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), are working with CSRA and AWS to harness the future, today. Together, we’re not only helping organizations to “Think Next. Now,” we’re working to make it happen…today.
Vennergrund highlighted how the FAA is using AWS and CSRA solutions and services to conduct advanced root-cause analysis that makes the skies safer. And they’re partnering to help the EPA create advanced analytics environments to help improve drinking water quality, prevent waterborne disease outbreaks, and boost auto-emission compliance.
What makes the CSRA - AWS combination so productive for public sector organizations? Three unique ingredients: commitment, passion, and experience.
With You Every Step of the Way
With a long track record of moving applications across multiple environments, CSRA understands the complexities of migrating workloads in large-scale environments, and the skills needed for success. We bridge the gap in migrating applications across traditional, private cloud, and AWS environments,. CSRA has established AWS-tailored roadmaps and processes for “lift and shift,” refactoring, and rebuilding applications.
Our specialized capabilities—encompassing consulting, reselling, and managed services—enable us to add value and support public sector organizations at every point in their journey to the cloud. Quite simply, as a single source for AWS solutions, CSRA reduces complexity and delivers unprecedented continuity to our clients.
Fast Track to the Future
“We are in a data-driven environment. It’s based on speed and tempo. Mission doesn’t wait,” said Conrad Unciano, CSRA Systems Engineering Manager, in his AWS Public Sector Summit presentation.
CSRA knows the best and fastest routes to cloud success and has helped build them. We’re ready to scale with you.
AWS has recognized our deep expertise and commitment by awarding CSRA the status of AWS Premier Consulting Partner. AWS confers the Premier designation to a select number of consulting organizations that have invested significantly in their AWS practice by:
- Demonstrating extensive experience in deploying customer solutions on AWS
- Building a strong bench of trained and certified technical consultants
- Proving their expertise in project management
- Cultivating a healthy revenue-generating consulting business on AWS
Today, CSRA has more than 50 certified AWS employees with over 100 AWS Certifications—including Administration, Developer, Architect Associate, Architect Professional, and DevOps certifications—and the numbers continue to grow.
Passion for the Cloud; Singular Focus
“I am passionate about the cloud,” Unciano declared during his AWS Summit presentation—embodying the excitement and commitment seen throughout our organization. “We’ve created a study group that meets for six to eight hours each week and focuses exclusively on understanding and harnessing the very latest in cloud advancements and uses. We then practice what we learn every day.”
CSRA also has a unique relationship with the public sector market. CSRA’s focus is 100 percent government, allowing us to deliver unmatched domain experience and expertise in supporting highly regulated entities in the cloud. We also deliver convenient access to major contracting vehicles. These capabilities combine to help public sector organizations accelerate their journey to the cloud while minimizing risk.
We’ve Been in Your Shoes
In 2016, CSRA migrated its corporate IT infrastructure (including human resources, finance, and document management environments) to AWS GovCloud (US). Today, more than 30 percent of our workload runs on AWS, and that percentage continues to grow. We have learned a lot along the way, and our clients are the direct beneficiaries of our first-hand experience.
We successfully moved our applications to AWS in just four months, and continue to take advantage of the on-demand capabilities of the cloud, including the ability to spin up as many computing resources as we need, as quickly as they are needed.
We also understand the intricacies of setting up and operating a hybrid environment, as we still host some of our applications in our own data center. As such, our clients benefit immensely from our deep first-hand expertise with the tooling, APIs, and management features AWS has on top of its cloud to facilitate hybrid environments.
