At the conclusion of his Second Inaugural Address in 1865, Abraham Lincoln exhorted America to “strive on to finish the work we are in,” and he committed the country to “care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan.”
To live up to this commitment, our government and all our fellow citizens share an obligation to support veterans and their families. On November 11, Veterans Day, I hope all of us will honor them and the manifold ways they have sacrificed to keep us safe and free.
Our veteran employees bring leadership traits essential to CSRA’s success and a set of values that aligns so well with CSRA’s values and culture. The commitment veterans have demonstrated through their service to our nation mirrors our commitment to supporting the critical needs of our customers’ missions.
As we approach Veterans Day, I hope you get an opportunity to catch our video series on “The Values of Veterans.” We asked some CSRA veterans to share their thoughts on what it meant to them to serve our nation, how CSRA has supported their transition to civilian life, and how CSRA’s values and mission align with the leadership traits and values they learned in the military. I found them to be inspiring.
As we honor veterans this weekend, please take a moment to acknowledge their value and sacrifice by thanking a veteran. Here are some ideas on how to show your appreciation:
- Send a card to an active duty service member to let them know how much you appreciate their service
- Take part in this month’s #22Pushup Challenge
- Join us on December 16th for Wreaths Across America where we honor the lives of veterans through wreath-laying ceremonies around the country
To CSRA’s veterans – THANK YOU for your service to our nation. Your values and leadership serve as the foundation for our success.
