As we celebrate Independence Day, let’s pause and reflect on what it means to be American.
We are privileged to live in a nation that values freedom and opportunity for all of its citizens and we owe an unpayable debt to those who have fought to protect our rights. Let us never take this privilege for granted.
In 2016, more than 750,000 people became naturalized American citizens seeking the freedoms we enjoy. Whether we are born or naturalized Americans, we are also stewards of this great nation charged with preserving our heritage by teaching and living the freedoms enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
